Meaning and History of Eid

Eid is derived from the Arabic word oud, which means to come again and again. Eid also comes every year. The concept of Eid in the world is as old as a human civilization because man has wanted to celebrate happiness in every age, so in every age, one day or another has been celebrated as a festival.

History shows that the people of Ibraham celebrated Eid on the day when the fire turned into flowers for Ibraham. Similarly, the people of Moses celebrated Eid when Pharaoh crossed the river and the people of Jesus celebrated the day of his birth. The day celebrates Christmas and we Muslims celebrate two Eids in a year, Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha.

How is Eid celebrated in Pakistan?

Thus, the whole Islamic world celebrates Eid, but due to the rising of the moon on different days, there is a difference of one or two days between the countries. Eid is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Pakistan. As soon as the moon rises, congratulatory messages are sent. The rush to the dairy shops increases and women start making new designs while holding henna or ironing their morning clothes.

As soon as they wake up in the morning, the men go for Eid's prayers, and after the prayers, everyone hugs and meet Eid. Eid is distributed to all when they come home, which is once again called "Aslam Walikum". On the other hand, women prepare dishes in the kitchen even when they are ready. Then everyone sits down to eat with the family. The whole day is spent sharing such joys and then at night the daughters-in-law often go to their mecca. These joys, colors, and feasts of Eid are celebrated for three days.
